Family is most important in life, and there is nothing more valuable for a child to grow up surrounded by his siblings.
One warm-hearted man from Ohio had this in mind when he made a decision that completely changed the lives of five siblings!
The 29-year-old man, Robert Carter, spend his life in foster care as well, so he decided to adopt all the five kids and provide them a loving and permanent home.
Carter had no intention of leaving the children to be split apart, and will now make sure they get the best upbringing possible.
He was only 12 when he entered the Ohio care-home system with his two siblings, a younger brother, and a younger sister. Unfortunately, they were separated and put up for care in different foster homes.
It took him many years to track his brother and sister down and reunite with them.
This was the main reason why he insisted on adopting all the five siblings- he knew the importance of keeping families together and wanted to ensure it no matter the cost.
After examining his background and character, the court was quick to award custody of Marionna, Makayla, Robert, Giovanni, and Kiontae to Carter.
Carter actually reunited the siblings after some time apart, as they were previously separated into 3 different homes, one of these being his own house, and at the same time, he protected their future.
He was initially fostering the three brothers, but after seeing how upset the siblings were after a family meet-up, that he needed to keep them together for good.
Stacey Barton, a caseworker who worked on the case, said:
“Mr. Carter was the only foster parent willing and able to adopt all of the children. His childhood background has made him aware of the importance of keeping siblings together.”
Carter said:
“[I’m] making memories to replace a lot of the bad ones. Every night, I talk to them and let them know, ‘I’m your dad forever. I know what it’s like, and I’m always here for you.’”
The kind and loving young man knows that it will take time to gain their trust at first, but with lots of love, dedication, hard work, and empathy, he will help these kids to grow up to be the best versions of themselves possible.
Currently, there are an estimated 100,000 children in the United States awaiting adoption. Many of them get stuck within the care system without securing a permanent home and are then forced to continually adapt to new surroundings and new families.
Therefore, stories such as this one are truly inspiring and heart-melting.
