In the Home for the EIderIy in Peja, two femaIe workers were arrested because of a video that appeared on social networks, showing them mistre.ating an elderly woman, the Kosovo poIice announced.
Meanwhile, Gazeta Express reported that four nurses were suspended because of this case.
It is specified that the persons were arrested around 2:10 p.m. and that further measures will be taken in cooperation with the prosecutor, reports Kossev.
In the video, which was the main news in the Pristina media today, you can see how the old woman tries to defend herself while the worker repeatedly sIaps her in the face and k.icks her in the stomach.
The Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Peja announced that two prosecutors were engaged in this case. Dorian Yunico, one of the two prosecutors in this case, told the media that two people with the initials AP and AR were arrested.
In the meantime, the spokesperson for the police for the Peć region, Fadil Gashi, spoke out and said that the att ack of the nurse on the old woman happened five days ago (October 29).
“Three people from that Center were arrested, and the case happened on October 29. “One person is charged with the c.rime of ‘assault’, another with ‘assisting in the commission of an a.ttack’, and the third with ‘unauthorized recording,’” Gashi told Klankosova.tv.
Four nurses have been suspended from their jobs at the “Orenda” care center for the elderly in Peja, where a video emerged showing several employees be.ating and psychologically ab..using a woman. Gazeta Express also published a document allegedly published by this center about the suspension of nurses.
In the document published by this Pristina media, it is stated that the vioIence committed against the old woman was “misbe..havior”.
“Such acts of vioIence are unacceptable wherever they occur, but they are especially serious when they occur in institutions that are considered to offer help and care,” Svećlja said.
Kosovo’s Minister of Justice, Albuljena Haxhiu, also reacted, stating that she was sh0cked. At the same time, she confirmed that some of the suspects have already been arrested, and that the prosecution and the police are working on the case. The mayor of Pec, Gazmend Muhaxheri, stated that this municipality does not manage any institution that offers services for the eIderIy. On the other hand, he called on the health inspection and the poIice to deal seriousIy with the case.
