People who own pets will tell you that pets aren’t just animals. They are members of the family. After all, dogs have long been considered man’s best friend and rightfully so.
In fact, when a pet owner has to be away from their beloved animal, it can be devastating for both the person and the animal. Army Private Hannah Foraker is one of those people. She had never been away from her beloved golden retriever, Buddy. So when she left for basic training, the 13-year-old dog was devastated. Hannah is just 21, but she had spent all 13 years of Buddy’s life by her side.
The two had really grown up together and the bond between them was unbreakable. Although it was difficult to leave Buddy behind, it was a necessity for her to go to basic training. Leaving for basic training meant that Hannah would be away from Buddy for three months. But when she finally was able to return home, it didn’t take long for Buddy to realize who had found her way back.
Because Buddy is getting up there in age, she suffers from arthritis and is nearly deaf. These are conditions that she has just recently developed. Still, her impairments didn’t hold her back. As soon as she realized her best friend was home, Buddy made it clear that she was excited. She whimpered and wagged her tail, and just couldn’t get close enough to her dear friend.
Her happiness with having her human back is barely containable as she licks Hannah’s face and lays her head on her lap. Check out the heartwarming video of the reunion below and be sure to share it with your family and friends.
