Benjamin Giroux helped the world understand autism, and his eye-opening poem “I Am” is making the best headlines across the globe

Poetry is one of the very few things we can use to express our deepest thoughts and emotions. It’s an excellent way of communicating with others. The poems one writes is like a portal to their soul. Others can read author’s thoughts. It’s the conversation you have with others without even saying a word. It’s all written down there, on that piece of paper.

Sometimes a bunch of scribbled words can make others cry. Poems are filled with emotions and deep thoughts. They help others understand better. A few simple words can deliver an important message.

A boy with autism had to write a poem as a homework assignment. The final result? The teacher was shocked. This poem made us think of all the children who don’t get equal opportunities as their classmates and friends.

Benjamin Giroux opened our eyes and made us see things differently. Benjamin was nothing like other kids. He didn’t just write something. His poem was special, and he really tried to create a masterpiece. Benjamin did an incredible effort and described what it’s like to live with autism. “I Am” brought tears to our eyes.

“I Am” by Benjamin Giroux

“I hear voices in the air

I see you don’t, and that’s not fair

I want to not feel blue

I am odd, I am new

I pretend that you are too

I feel like a boy in outer space

I touch the stars and feel out of place

I worry what others might think

I cry when people laugh, it makes me shrink

I am odd, I am new

I understand now that so are you

I say I, ‘feel like a castaway’

I dream of a day that that’s okay

I try to fit in

I hope that someday I do

I am odd, I am new.”

Autism made him feel different than other children. Benjamin was really special and this poem is the best proof of that.

The National Autism Association shared the poem and the entire world got to know about the brave Benjamin Giroux who wrote an eye-opening poem.
